HARRISBURG, PA – February 24, 2025 – Senator Patty Kim (D-15) announced more than $2.3 million in Multimodal Transportation Fund state grants for the 15th District (Lower Dauphin County) to restore aging infrastructure and improve road safety conditions.
Kim worked with Representatives Dave Madsen and Justin Fleming to support projects approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority today including:
- $350,000 for Harrisburg International Airport’s Transportation Facility Repairs Project
- $400,000 for Lower Paxton Township for roadway improvement projects
- $350,000 for roadway improvements as part of the Swatara Exchange development (former Harrisburg East Mall)
“The projects selected are within some of the busiest, most vibrant areas of Dauphin County,” Senator Kim said. “Representatives Madsen, Fleming, and I are proud to work together to support these critical investments. Each of these projects strengthen our community connection and improving the quality of life for residents.”
“I am glad to have been able to help secure critical funds that will help make the Harrisburg International Airport maintain its high level of safety and security,” Madsen said. “HIA has helped make the Capital Region a vital link in the eastern corridor for goods and serves. This project aligns with my focus on increasing the economic strength of the Harrisburg area and the wider Central Pennsylvania through strategic investments and partnerships.”
“I am pleased to have obtained this important funding that will improve the quality of life in Lower Paxton and Susquehanna townships by making our roads safer for drivers and pedestrians,” said Rep. Justin Fleming. “My priority is assisting the local community where I serve because I know even small projects, such as pedestrian crosswalks, can truly improve daily life for so many people.”
In addition, Senator Kim worked with Representative Tom Mehaffie to support the additional awards below:
- $700,000 for Derry Township to make roadway safety improvements along Hockersville Road.
- $500,000 for Lower Swatara Township to repair and connect sidewalks on local roads.
- $50,000 for Rekha Tolani LLC to improve traffic flow on Tollhouse Road and Harrisburg Pike in Londonderry Township.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund program is intended to provide financial assistance to local governing bodies, business organizations, economic development groups, and public transit authorities to encourage economic development. The program is administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development following directives from the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
