Internship

Interning with a State Senator offers a valuable opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the legislative process, policy development, and constituent services. State Senator Patty Kim is committed to providing interns with a meaningful and supportive educational experience. As part of our operations, we offer a summer internship program for college students interested in public service and government.

Program Summary

The program is designed to offer college students at all academic levels the opportunity to experience the full scope of senatorial work. Interns will take part in a wide range of responsibilities – from assisting constituents and engaging with community issues to researching policy and drafting legislation – providing a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to effectively represent a community. The eight-week program runs from May through July. During this time, interns will complete at least one project under the guidance of each of our directors—Legislative, District Office, and Communications. Interns will also participate in a legislative capstone project, selecting a key policy issue of interest and working to draft and propose a bill for the Senator’s consideration.
