HARRISBURG, PA – April 15, 2026 –  Today, Senator Patty Kim (D-Dauphin) announced over $2 million in Violence Intervention & Prevention (VIP) and Building Opportunities Through Out-of-School Time (BOOST) grant funding for schools and organizations in the 15th Senatorial District.”

The FY 2025-26 state budget allocated approximately $62.15 million in funding to support VIP and BOOST grants administered through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) School Safety and Security Committee. 

VIP grants go towards efforts to address community violence across the Commonwealth, particularly in areas with high rates of firearm-related violent crime, while BOOST funding aims to expand structured out-of-school time (OST) programming for at-risk school-age youth. 

“All too often, I hear stories from people across lower Dauphin County who have suffered deeply as a result of violence in their communities. I am truly grateful for this grant funding that will help keep our neighbors safe,” said Senator Kim. “The organizations receiving this funding do incredible work in the 15th District, providing life-changing programming and services that combat violence and leave our communities changed for the better. I am proud to have worked with my colleagues here in Harrisburg to help secure this funding that will ensure the 15th District remains a safe and welcoming place to live for years to come.”

The following organizations received funding from the VIP grant

  •  Boys and Girls Club of Harrisburg received $400,000.
  • Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Harrisburg received $405,119.
  • Scholars Inc. DBA Thrive Housing Services received $375,000.

The following organizations received funding from the BOOST grant:

  • Central Dauphin School District recieved $204,351.
  • The Joshua Group received $495,420.
  • The Salvation Army in Harrisburg Capital City Region received $217,456.
