HARRISBURG, PA − June 12, 2025 − Senator Patty Kim (D-15) announced that the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) has approved $2,133,000 in grant funding for multiple housing projects throughout the 15th District through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement (PHARE) program.
“From helping first-time buyers achieve homeownership to supporting families and seniors throughout our neighborhoods, these investments strengthen housing opportunities for everyone in our community,” Senator Kim said. “Each investment represents a real solution that creates opportunity and helps families build stronger, more stable futures. I’m grateful for the organizations doing this vital work in our communities and look forward to seeing the positive impact these investments will have on our neighbors’ lives.”
Approved projects throughout Dauphin County include:
- Beahive Affordable Housing Outreach, Inc. – Empowering underserved populations to transition from renting to homeownership and build wealth to address housing instability – Amount: $50,000
- 1 Step At A Time Support Services – Property upgrades for 6-bed inpatient facility serving men with substance abuse issues, re-entry citizens, veterans, and those with mental health challenges – Amount: $33,000
- Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren – HVAC system updates for building that houses organizations providing programming and support for those experiencing homelessness – Amount: $85,000
- Office for Planning and Architecture, inc. — Six shared-equity housing units in Summit Terrace using local MBE contractors, partnering with Pennsylvania Social Equity Land Trust for permanently affordable housing – Amount: $350,000
- Scholars, Inc. – Expanding emergency shelter capacity, rental assistance, and housing opportunities for youth and young adults experiencing homelessness – Amount: $150,000
- Brethren Community Ministries (bcmPEACE) – Building repairs including roof, flooring, and security improvements for 6 residential and 2 storefront units on Derry Street – Amount: $200,000
- Ecumenical Community of Harrisburg – Safety and energy efficiency improvements including fire alarm updates, generators, and new windows for elderly residents – Amount: $100,000
- Christian Churches United of the Tri-County Area – Continuum of services including street outreach, coordinated entry, overnight shelter, and rapid rehousing for unhoused individuals – Amount: $150,000
- Brethren Housing Association – Bridge housing and case management for single parent families experiencing homelessness – Amount: $115,000
- JLD Property Management Group – Roof replacement and elevator modernization for affordable housing serving low-income seniors and individuals with disabilities – Amount: $400,000
- LGBT Community Center Coalition of Central PA – Rapid rehousing and intensive case management for LGBTQ+ young adults ages 18-34 experiencing homelessness – Amount: $200,000
- Steelwood Investment Properties, LLC – Mixed-use development with 17 residential units and commercial space, featuring home offices and designed for inclusive community living – Amount: $300,000
